Our immunity system is our blanket against harmful diseases and infections. Though, due to today’s fast lifestyle, we have incorporated some habits into our lives that are decreasing the strength of our immune system. So, today we are enumerating 3 habits that destroy our immune system and 3 habits that can help to boost it.

3 HABITS THAT DESTROYS IMMUNE SYSTEM: -

  1. CONSUMING PROCESSED PRODUCTS

CONSUMING PROCESSED PRODUCTSThe so-called “food” products in the market are loaded with chemicals, preservatives, and high sugar which bring unwanted changes in the immune system. MSG is added into products as a flavour shortcut, but it is known to destroy lymphocytes which takes out foreign invaders from body. High sugar content from these products directly compete with vitamin C in immune system that can cause high blood sugar in body. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that fights with free radicals in the body.

  1. ALCOHOL
Alcohal
Alcohol consumption not only messes with our heads but with our immune system too. Various researchers have found that it can have disruptive effects on the immune system. Its regular intake hinders in the recovery of injured tissues and spoils the body’s strength to fight infection.
Alcohol disturbs our sleeping cycles and lowers mental cognitive strength. It destroys lifesaving microorganisms like epithelial cells and cytokines.

  1. SMOKING
Smoking
Not only smoking increases the chance of cancer or heart disease, but it also weakens our immunity system. The effect of tobacco smoke lowers the protective antioxidants in the blood. Cigarette smoking degrades dental health and increases susceptibility to infections such as Pneumonia and influenza.

3 HABITS THAT BOOSTS IMMUNE SYSTEM: -

  1. EXERCISING
Exersise
A fit life is always better than a lethargic one. Half an hour of daily exercising can do wonders for you. Exercise reduces the release of stress hormones and prevents bacteria from growing. It also promotes the production of White Blood Cells (WBCs) which helps us to fight diseases. However, more exercise isn’t always better: moderate physical activity is more beneficial for our immune system.

  1. DRINKING ENOUGH WATER
Drinking water bottle packed
It’s hard to believe that something as simple as drinking water can boost our immune system and longevity. Water being a universal solvent, acts as a carrier for oxygen to body cells and removes toxins from body. Water with squeezed lemon juice also help the digestion process and colon detoxification.

  1. GETTING ADEQUATE SLEEP

Quality of our sleep largely determines the quality of our health. Human bodies release certain proteins during sleep called cytokines which help to fight infection and inflammation by effectively creating an immune response. Lack of sleep reduces the production of cytokines, thus making us more vulnerable to diseases. Therefore, it is advised for an adult to get at least 7-8 hours of night sleep every day.

In today’s world, a body needs good habits to stay healthy, not vitamin supplements. Know, that no pill can make up for the lost health. A strong immune system prevents potential diseases and promotes longevity of life. Dropping our bad habits is the first step towards it. Our focus should be on rooting out the cause, not the symptoms of disease.
