Ayurvedic Tips for a Pregnant Woman
Pregnancy and childbirth are a regenerating experience in a woman's life. During this beautiful phase, a woman requires great care from her family. Ayurveda therefore places an enormous emphasis that prescribes some important rules for every pregnant woman. Ayurveda compares the human conception to germination and budding and transformation into a sapling.
According to Ayurveda, downward moving energy is called apana vata, which supports fetal development. During stress and fatigue, upward moving energy, called prana vata, directs downward to meet the needs of the foetus. Without prana, the mother would experience fatigue and even postnatal depression.
For a healthy pregnancy, the apana and the prana vata should be in balance and this can only be achieved by following some timeless ayurvedic tips.
Here are 10 ayurvedic tips which can do wonders in your pregnancy:
Don’t ignore your cravings
The most important advice is to naturally eat what you want. Follow a balanced diet that includes plenty of protein, healthy starch and vegetables. Keep in mind that you are eating for both types of body, so you don't have to follow a strict diet for only your body type. Respect your unique desires, especially after the fourth month the desire you feel is more likely to be the child's desire.
Keep your Vatta balanced
The ideal concept during pregnancy is to balance vata, the energy of the nervous system. It is best to use fresh, vegetables, whole or germinated grains and non-processed foods. Warm, freshly prepared foods containing healthy olive oil, ghee and coconut oil should be preferred. Try to avoid eating leftovers.
Avoid these foods
-
Hot and spicy food
-
Raw green leafy vegetables - because they cause gas.
-
Uncooked beans and lentils - this can also cause gas.
-
Artificial flavors, preservatives and chemical additives
Relish these 3 tastes
The three flavors that balance vata are sweet, sour and salty. During pregnancy, sweetness should be emphasized most because it is the most filling and healthy for the baby. This includes sprouted bread or bread without oil, whole grains, rice, fruit and healthy starch.
Drinking right milk for a healthy baby
Drink warm, non-homogeneous milk with ghee made from grass-fed cows. It is said that adding one teaspoon of ghee in a cup of warm milk and drinking it twice a day can improve the baby's immunity and skin tone, or "ojas".
Massage with ayurvedic oil
Herbal oil can calm the mother's sensory nervous system. Therefore, when the mother is calm, the baby will be calm. You can massage yourself or have a proper massage by your partner. Massage is not recommended until the 5th month. Abdominal massage is essential in the 8th and 9th months, and nipple massage also helps prepare to breastfeed babies.
Treating morning sickness
Morning sickness is a common problem during pregnancy and can happen at any time of the day. Although it lasts for weeks to months, nausea can happen at any time. Here are some Ayurvedic tips you can follow to overcome this situation:
-
Snacks on dried cookies. This helps keep a small amount of food instead of an empty stomach, causing a feeling of nausea.
-
Take some cardamom seeds, roast them, powder, and eat throughout the day.
-
Take two garlic cloves, grind and mix with a small spoon of honey. Lick this when you feel nausea. This is immediate relief.
-
Tea made from ginger powder or fennel seeds. Sip it when warm.
-
The mint leaves are boiled and inhaled to obtain some relief.
-
Sleep in a semi-recumbent position by placing a pillow.
-
Salted potato chips can soothe the stomach
-
Walking and practicing pranayama in the morning can alleviate the feeling of illness.
Exercise
A great way to get this is to walk for 30 minutes each day.
Take rest
In the 8th month, you should rest as much as possible. This is a subtle period of time when mothers and babies pass a subtle nutrient solution called "ojas" that supports vitality, skin tone and immunity.
Stay Happy
During this time, the partner's job is to keep the mother happy. Of course, mothers must also practice happiness every day. Your partner should avoid traveling and get home early at night to meet every desire of the expectant mother.
Be aware of the above tips to help you avoid unpleasant incidents during pregnancy. A healthy and happy pregnancy will definitely bring you a happy baby.
