What is Abhyanga?
Abhyanga is an Ayurvedic massage that is done with warm oil on the entire body from Scalp to Feet. It is normally done by an experienced massage therapist. It involves long strokes on the body with sunflower oil, coconut oil, or castor oil. It is known to promote blood circulation and nourishment of body tissues.
Choosing the Best Oils for Massaging: -
For someone with aggravated Vata, you can use warm sesame oil or ashwagandha oil. For someone with aggravated Pitta, sunflower, or coconut oil at room temperature might be the right choice. For someone with aggravated Kapha, warm sunflower oil might be the best choice.
