Home Remedies for Toothache
1) Clove oil
Since ancient times, Indian Ayurvedic practitioners have been using the aromatic spice clove and its oil to get rid of toothache. Not only it helps in subsiding the pain but also helps in getting rid of the soreness caused in the gums due to toothache. Clove oil is mostly extracted from the bud and stem of eugenol clove. This toothache home remedy helps relieve the pain by numbing the nerve.
Method
Take two to three drops of clove oil and mix it with half teaspoon olive oil
Soak a small ball of cotton on it and apply on the affected tooth area
Keep it on the affected area for a while till the area starts to feel numb and pain subsides.
Rinse mouth with water
Repeat at least once a day for 2-3 weeks or till the time the pain has completely vanished
Clove oil can also be mixed with coconut oil and applied on the affected area for best results
2) Garlic
One of the toothache home remedies includes using Garlic. Being an antibiotic, garlic provides immense relief from tooth pain.
Method
Take two to three pods of garlic and crush them with some salt and pepper
Apply the mixture on the affected area and keep it on till the pain subsides
Repeat the treatment daily or till the time the pain has subsided
3) Onions
Onions also are antibacterial and antiseptic in nature and are a great help in controlling toothache. Onion is one of the various toothache home remedies which can provide relief from pain by killing infection causing germs.
Method
Take the slice of onion and keep it on the affected tooth
Bite into the onion and keep it pressed between teeth for 10 minutes
Rinse your mouth with water
Repeat at least once a day for 2-3 weeks
Even though the taste of a raw onion is too strong, but the effect stays long.
4) Asafetida (Hingha)
For this toothache remedy, the main ingredient is Asafetida. With the use of Asafetida, you can treat toothaches and bleeding gums and keep the health of your gums and teeth intact
Method
Mix a pinch of asafetida in a teaspoon of lemon juice and slightly warm it
Use a cotton ball and dab it in the mixture
Thereafter, apply the soaked cotton ball to the affected area and keep it on for 10-15 minutes
Use the treatment once or twice a week or till the time the pain has completely vanished
Asafetida can also be slightly fried in clarified butter and applied on affected gums and tooth for relief from toothache.
Ginger and cayenne pepper when mixed together work magic on toothaches.
Method
Take half a teaspoon of ginger paste and mix with equal amounts of cayenne pepper
Mix two to three drops of olive oil in it and apply the mix on the affected tooth area
Keep the mixture on for 10-15 minutes
Thereafter, rinse mouth with warm water
Repeat the process once or twice a week
6) Alcohol
Even though alcohol is not recommended by too many doctors, it can help in alleviating tooth pain. But in case you have children at home suffering from toothache, we recommend you to overlook administering this home remedy to them. By saying alcohol, we mean alcohol application at the site of pain & not consumption.
Method
Soak a cotton ball in a spoonful of whiskey & squeeze out the excess
Place the cotton on the sore tooth and leave it on for some time

7) Peppermint
Peppermint oil also helps in numbing tooth pain to a great extent.
Method
Take a small swab of cotton and dip it in few drops of peppermint oil and olive oil
Place the cotton ball on the affected area for 10-15 minutes till the pain goes away Repeat when required
8) Sea salt
Because of various kinds of sugars that are left in the mouth, bacteria develop into infection and produces lactic acid. The acid then starts corroding into enamel and teeth, which causes immense pain. Saltwater, which is one of the effective toothache home remedies, helps in getting over the pain and neutralize the lactic acid.
Method
Take a cup of water and warm it to the temperature you can put in mouth
Thereafter, add half teaspoon sea salt in it and mix properly
Rinse your mouth with saltwater
Repeat for 10-15 times or till the time the pain has started to wither away
Repeat the process once or twice daily for 3-4 weeks
9) Cucumber
Cucumber is known for its soothing and cooling effect and thus works incredibly well as a toothache remedy. It also has hemostatic effects that curbs the blood flow to the pain affected area, which results in shrinking the ache.
Method
Take a spoonful of grated cucumber and mix with few drops of lemon juice
Take the mixture and apply on the affected area and keep it on for 10 minutes

10) Turmeric
Its antibacterial and antiseptic properties help relieve pain and heal the gum and tooth area in case of an infection or an abscess.
Method
Mix oil and turmeric together to make a thick paste

Natural Remedies For Cough
Black Pepper and Milk
On a pastry board grind 4-6 black pepper seeds. Add a teaspoon of honey and mix it thoroughly. Taking this home remedy for cough several times a day relieves the cough.
Almonds and Butter
Almonds are a good remedy for cough. Soak about 5-8 kernels in water overnight. After removing the brown skin, grind the softened kernels into a fine paste. Add 20 grams of butter and sugar to this paste. Eating this paste in the morning and evening gets rid of cough. This paste is an effective home remedy for dry cough.
Beleric Myrobalans, Black Pepper and Honey
To prepare this natural remedy for cough, take 10 grams of dried rind of Beleric Myrobalans and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper. Grind them to a fine powder. Add a pinch of salt and 2 teaspoons of honey to this blend. Mix them well to form a paste. Administered twice daily, this paste relieves cough.
Long Pepper, Ginger & Tulsi
To prepare this home remedy for cough, take about 10 grams of long pepper, dried ginger,holy basil leaves. Add 4-6 small cardamoms and grind to yield a fine powder. Consuming this powder with equal amount of honey relieves cough.
Ginger, Betel Leaves & Honey
To prepare this home remedy for cough, you will need 1 tsp ginger juice. Add 1 tsp honey to it. Third ingredient required is betel leaves. Pound and take out juice of betel leaves. Add 1 tsp betel leaves juice to the previous mixture and mix well. A powerful home remedy for cough is ready to use. You should add 1 tsp of lukewarm water to it and drink it. You should take it 3 times a day. Don’t consume anything till half an hour.
Black Pepper, Turmeric, Milk & Honey
For this cough remedy, you will need the following ingredients: Milk, pepper power, turmeric powder, and honey. Take one glass of hot milk. Add 1/2 teaspoon of pepper powder, turmeric powder and honey to it. Mix it well and drink it twice a day for the best result.
Onion and Honey
Chop up an onion, extract the juice and mix it with some honey. Leave this mixture for about five hours and then use it as a cough syrup twice a day. Onion acts as a decongestant and soothes your airways. This is one of the effective home remedies for cough.
Ginger and Honey
Take a piece of fresh ginger, grate it and extract juice from it. Take about 2 teaspoons of ginger juice and add about 2 and 1/2 teaspoons of honey. Mix it well. Warm the mixture slightly. Let it warm for less than a minute, and then you can have it about three to four times a day for your wet cough. Home remedies for cough with ginger honey might take some time to take effect.
