Psoriasis is an acute skin disorder. This is an autoimmune disease. This means that your immune system destroys your body rather than protects you. Psoriasis leads to scaly spots in the skin that are sometimes silver or red and can be itchy and painful. The spots can come and go over a few days to over a month.
There are different types of psoriasis and there are many. Read on to learn more about these different types and how to treat them.

Symptoms

The most common symptoms of psoriasis are:

  1. Red skin plaque Scales
  2. sometimes silver, skin patches
  3. Itchy skin
  4. Joint swelling, stiffness or pain associated with psoriatic arthritis


The symptoms of psoriasis also vary by type. There are six official types of psoriasis:

  • plaque
  • guttate
  • inverse
  • pustular
  • erythrodermic
  • psoriatic arthritis

Psoriasis can also cause symptoms of mental stress, anxiety and low self-esteem. Depression also occurs in people with psoriasis. There are also subtypes of psoriasis. They look different depending on the body position. Whatever the nature, psoriasis is not contagious.

Plaque Psoriasis


Plaque psoriasis or psoriasis is the most common form of psoriasis. It is estimated that 80% of patients with psoriasis have psoriasis plaque. It is characterized by thick red skin, usually with a silver or white creamylayer.
These spots often appear on:

  • Elbows
  • The knees
  • lower back
  • Scalp

Spots are usually 1 to 10 centimetres but can also be larger and cover more body. If you scratch the scales, the symptoms will get worse.

Guttate Psoriasis

Guttate psoriasis appears in small red spots on the skin. It is the second most common type, affecting 10% of people with psoriasis. Most of the time begins during childhood or adulthood.

The patches are small, discrete, and clear in shape. They often appear on the trunk and limbs but can also appear on your face and scalp. The spots are not usually as thick as psoriasis, but they can develop into plaque over time.

Guttate psoriasis happens after some stimuli. These actuators include:

  • Strep throat
  • Stress
  • Skin injury
  • infection
  • Drugs

Inverse Psoriasis

Inverse psoriasis often occurs in skin folds, such as under the breast or in the armpit or groin area. This type of psoriasis is red and usually shiny and smooth.

The sweat and moisture from the wrinkles of the skin make this form of psoriasis not shed skin scaly. Sometimes it is misdiagnosed as a fungal or bacterial infection. Skin contact on the skin can make the reverse psoriasis very uncomfortable.

Pustular Psoriasis


Pustular psoriasis is a serious psoriasis. It develops rapidly in the form of many white pustules surrounded by red skin. Pustular psoriasis can affect isolated areas of the body, such as the hands and feet, or cover most of the surface of the skin. These pustules can also be joined together and form scale. Some people have experienced a cycle of pustules and relief. Although pus is non-infectious, this condition can cause flu-like symptoms such as:

  • fever
  • chills
  • rapid pulse
  • muscle weakness
  • loss of appetite

Psoriatic Psoriasis

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a pain and body-limiting disease that affects 10% to 30% of patients with psoriasis. There are five types of PsA with different symptoms. This type of psoriasis cannot be cured.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that triggers the body to attack joints and skin. It can affect many joints and often becomes very serious in the hands. Skin symptoms usually appear before joint symptoms.

Erythrodermic psoriasis

Red psoriasis or psoriasis is a rare type of psoriasis similar to severe burns. The situation is serious and may be a medical emergency. You may need to enter the hospital because your body may not be able to control your body temperature.

his type of psoriasis is broad, red and crusty. Most of the body may cover. Peeling usually occurs in fragments larger than the typical small scale of most psoriasis

Red psoriasis can develop from:

  • Bad sunburn
  • infection
  • alcoholism
  • Great pressure
  • Sudden discontinuation of systemic psoriasis medication

Many people think that psoriasis is contagious, but it does not spread from person to person. Researchers believe that a combination of genetic, environmental and immune system factors can lead to psoriasis.
